Loveness Dzvovani is a young mother from Gutu ward 30 Chitambira village who found herself grappling with the weight of loss and the struggle for survival after the untimely death of her husband.
Loveness who is a devoted mother to her child, Princess, had returned to her widowed mother’s home after her husband’s passing, initially seeking comfort and support. However, the harsh reality of their situation lingered heavily over their modest household. With no stable source of income and little food to stretch, Loveness often found herself anxious about how to feed her family, especially as her own mother’s energy waned with age.
The turning point for Loveness arrived when the ECHO ZEER program being implemented by Nutrition Action Zimbabwe came to their community. Being vulnerable, her family was registered as beneficiaries for the project, and they received essential food items, including maize meal, beans, cooking oil, and fresh milk. Loveness was overwhelmed with gratitude upon receiving these supplies, as they meant so much more than nourishment; they offered hope and stability to her family during a time of profound uncertainty.
During this lean season, the food provided by the ECHO ZEER program became a lifeline for Loveness, her family and similar households in the same community. No longer burdened by the constant worry of hunger, she began to dream again.
Loveness expresses deep gratitude to the ECHO ZEER program, which not only fed her family but also empowered them with the knowledge to improve their health and well-being.
“I never thought I could feel hope again after everything that happened,” she said. “Thanks to ECHO, I see a bright future for my child, and I will always be grateful for the blessings we have received.”
