Transforming communities through KNOWLEDGE on Nutrition and Climate Smart/Good Agricultural Practices using the Lead Farmer approach at the Crop and Livestock Improvement Centre (C.L.I.C)
Lead farmers from ward 11 and 12 Makande in Kariba District receive tools of trade (bicycles, Training Manuals, Pod cast kits) and uniforms after completion of trainings on Health Harvest and Good Agriculture/ Climate Smart Agriculture. Now geared to cascade and train others in collaboration with Agritex, Veterinary and Nutritionist.
Nutrition Action Zimbabwe and Africa Ahead are implementing an integrated Food and Nutrition Security as well as WASH and Economic recovery and Market system led by Action Contre La Faim, funded by USAID BHA in Kariba District (ward 10,11 and 12). Thanks to the training facilities invested for the 3 wards by Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF) and Action AID.
One of the powerful yet low-cost investment in knowledge transfer in the agricultural extension is to support government extension with Lead farmer capacitation to increase reach. Each lead farmer in the Community nutrition gardens established by NAZ has +/- 10 farmers in their group enabling easy monitoring and increased efficiency in garden production.
