Feed the Future Zimbabwe Fostering Agribusiness for Resilient Markets (FTFZ-FARM)

Nutrition Action Zimbabwe (NAZ) is a partner along with FINTRAC and Another Option LLC in a Chemonics International led five-year USAID funded activity entitled Feed the Future Zimbabwe Fostering Agribusiness for Resilient Markets (FTFZ-FARM). FARM commenced on 1 July 2020 and will run until 30 June 2025.

The goal of the FARM Activity is to support farmers, their households, and communities to diversify, intensify, and commercialize their crop and livestock production to build their assets and be more able to absorb, adapt, and transform in the face of climate, economic, and other shocks, allowing them to live healthier and more productive lives.

To achieve this goal FARM will build on work tested and proven by previous Feed the Future efforts in Zimbabwe to immediately scale up and integrate “farming as a family business,” household and community nutrition, good hygiene practices and private sector engagement using a whole farm approach to support farmers and their households in following climate-smart practices, consuming an adequate range of nutrient-dense products as part of a healthy diet, adoption of demand driven WASH interventions, and treating their farms as family businesses that engage women and youth in meaningful economic activity.

The role of NAZ will incorporate providing technical assistance to the Feed the Future Zimbabwe FARM Activity to build sustainable household behaviours of regularly consuming diverse food products; improving maternal and child nutrition and feeding practices; increasing availability and access to adequate nutrient dense foods, and improving household WASH status. The activity is targeting to reach 20 000 households over the 5 years.
